Product Specific Information
GB-30077 detects beta 2 Arrestin in human, mouse and rat samples.

GB-30077 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blot procedures.

The GB-30077 immunogen is a synthetic peptide located on the putative C-terminal domain corresponding to residues 195-350) of human Arrestin beta-2. The peptide immunogen is conserved with the rat and mouse counterparts.

For short term storage, store at 4ºC. For long term storage, store at -20ºC.
General Information
Members of arrestin / beta-arrestin protein family are thought to participate in agonist-mediated desensitization of G-protein-coupled receptors and cause specific dampening of cellular responses to stimuli such as hormones, neuro transmitters, or sensory signals. Arrestin beta 2, like arrestin beta 1, was shown to inhibit beta-adrenergic receptor function in vitro. It is expressed at high levels in the central nervous system and may play a role in the regulation of synaptic receptors. Besides the brain, a cDNA for arrestin beta 2 was isolated from the thyroid gland, and thus it may also be involved in hormone-specific desensitization of TSH receptors.
