Product Specific Information
MA1-746 detects rapysn from mouse, rat, chicken, amphibian and fish samples.

MA1-746 has been used in immunochemistry procedures using cryosections, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence and Western Blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects a 48 kDa protein representing rapsyn from Torpedo californica electrocyte cell extracts.

The MA1-746 immunogen is whole purified rapsyn from Torpedo californica electric organ postsynaptic membrane.
General Information
Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) are organized into high-density postsynaptic clusters at the motor endplate that are critical for efficient synaptic transmission. The organization of AChR’s is carried out by the 43 kDa cytoplasmic protein rapsyn. Studies have indicated that mutations which impair the activity of rapsyn can lead to the formation of congenital myasthenic syndrome (CMS). CMS is characterized by poor development of the postsynaptic region.
