Product Specific Information
ABS 017-20-02 detects Gelsolin from human samples.

ABS 017-20-02 has been successfully used in ELISA and western blot procedures. ABS 017-20-02 does not work as capture antibody in sandwich ELISA.

The ABS 017-20-02 immunogen is a Gelsolin protein purified from human plasma.
General Information
Gelsolin participates in the extracellular actin scavenger system, binding actin and disaggregating filamentous actin released from dying cells. Actin monomers are then transferred to Gc-globulin. The plasma concentration of gelsolin is reduced in conditions of major actin release, such as acute liver failure, major trauma and rhabdomyolysis, where multi-organ failure is a risk. It has been suggested that gelsolin, like Gc-globulin, can be a prognostic factor in these conditions.
